An incomplete version of this song supposedly occurs in the lost "Schreckengoest" recordings of the old San Francisco band, Rube Waddell. Hatchjaw, in his troubling work: "The Lunatic Fringe, Street Bands of the Gay Nineties," mentions "a desultory landlord paen incorporating the use of an electric diddly bow."
(Hatchjaw, Vol 7, Ch34, pp. 456-457).
Deselby also mentions this earlier version in his own equally problematic account, "Shrieking Ghost, And Other Unusual Musical Genres."
